On Jul.18, Song Ming from China Centre for Intellectual Property in Agriculture was invited by CNTV as a guest for the online interview on “The Achievement Exhibition of the Special Campaign against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting”.

The “Double Strike” special campaign was carried out in the whole country from October 2010 in accordance with the deployment of the State Council. The exhibition comprehensively displayed various achievements made in the special campaign. During the exhibition, CNTV invites officers from the State Council and local relevant departments, industry experts and enterprise representatives to have online communication with netizen on the campaign.   

In the interview, Song Ming mainly introduced the status of the protection of IPR in seed industry and the work of protection of new varieties of plants. Modern seed industry competition mainly depends on technology innovation ability with IPR as the main competition measure. However, there’s still a big disparity between the innovation ability and creation ability of IPR of the seed enterprises between china and the developed countries. Song Ming talked about his view on how to incentivize enterprise innovation, mobilize social resources and promote the transformation of IPR, and also gave suggestions on establishing a long-effect mechanism for the protection of the variety rights.
